In our last blog, we shared some of our favorite tips for building your dream home. We have more to share though! Keep reading to learn more.
Design
The designing phase is extremely important in building your dream home. If you have a tight budget, that’s okay. You simply need to focus even more on the design phase. This will prevent fewer surprises later down the road. Make sure that your home builder understands your exact vision. Show them examples of what you like and what you don’t like. It’s important for this to be determined before starting the building process.
Hiring
When you are looking for who to hire to build you your dream home, make sure that you look at who has a similar outlook to you. See previous homes they have designed and even ask those homeowners. Ask them how they were about listening to your vision and staying on budget. These are two crucial answers to have prior to hiring your dream team. We encourage you to engage with the team you choose from the ground up. Make sure that you are paying attention until your home is complete.
Make sure to also hire a company that adheres to building codes and has a good reputation. It can seem great to save money, but this could end up costing you thousands more dollars if they are not building your home correctly and safely.
Plan Space
Unless you have an extremely large home, it is important to plan the space perfectly. This means the designs will be key before starting to build. Storage will be necessary, but you also want to pay attention to where you place your storage space. Also, pay attention to where you place your closets. Every bedroom and main hallway should have one. If you are living in a cold climate where coats are worn more often, make sure that the entrance to your home has room to hang coats. Planning your space is critical in the design process. Your home builder will be able to work with you to ensure you are utilizing every square inch correctly.
