Easy Ways to Boost Curb Appeal

If you are building your home there are a lot of little details you want to consider. One very important detail that can get overlooked is curb appeal. Curb appeal is important because it gives a wonderful first impression when you, friends or family are first seeing the home. It will also help the resale value when the day comes to sell it. In fact, how your home looks from the outside can boost your property’s sales by up to 17% (Texas Tech University). Keep reading to find out easy ways to boost curb appeal.

 

Window Box

Window boxes are an easy DIY project that adds street side appeal. You can make these yourself from what quick “how to” videos online, or simply purchase an already made window box and hang it from your home.

 

Front Door

Your front door can make a bold and noticing statement when you first build your home. Make sure not to overlook it. Adding a different color than the rest of your home will make it pop. You can also add a decoration on it when in season.

 

Mailbox

Your mailbox can add to your curb appeal and can build character to your home. A mailbox can sometimes be overlooked when building a home, but we encourage you to make your personality shine!

 

Shutters and Accent Trim

Shutter and trim will add a welcoming layer of beauty to the outside of your home. When you add shutters, this will also control the light and ventilation inside of your home. We recommend that your shutters be made of wood, aluminum, composite, fiberglass, or vinyl.

 

Outdoor Lighting

Outdoor lighting will increase the beauty of your home, especially at night. If you have a walkway leading up to your home, outdoor lighting is the perfect way to add a touch of detail without going over the top.

 

Garden

A garden adds a welcoming feel as well as color to the home. This can be added quickly and affordably. In fact, you can purchase containers that are already made or create your own with your favorite flowers and colors. We recommend that you stagger your garden and make it asymmetrical. This will create a dynamic setting that is pleasing to the eye.

This was our first time buying new construction and MaterBilt Homes made the process easy. We bought one of their finished semi-custom spec homes and we are very happy with our experience.
