Your kitchen is one of the most important rooms in your home. Firstly, you are going to be spending a lot of time in there if you like to cook, but the entire family will be there, and it will also increase the value of your home if and when you decide to sell it. The kitchen is so important to design correctly! Keep reading to find out how to do this.

Firstly, it’s important to eliminate any wasted space in the kitchen. Try and think about where you will be using items. Where do you store your food? Where are the plates located? Try and have things that may go together close to each other. Try and locate your dishware and flatware near the dishwasher so that unloading is an easier process.

Secondly, Many people love having an island in their kitchen. Plan to have enough space so that the cooktop is away from your dining area. Also, if you want people to be able to eat at it for breakfast, make sure to make it long enough for this to take place.

Thirdly, kids can be a handful in the kitchen. Think about designing a kid-friendly kitchen. Think about where the traffic in the kitchen will be and ensure there are no handles that stick out that can cause spills if you have a child running through.

Corners can be a hassle when it comes to kitchens. If you want your cabinets and appliances to fully function, make sure there is space for doors to swing open fully. Also, make sure that doors won’t bang into each other.

Make sure to find the correct height for each appliance. For adults, have your microwave 15 inches above the countertop level. For kids, a below the countertop setup is best and safer.

It’s important to have the path through your kitchen at least 36 inches wide. If you are in a cooking zone, try for it to be 42 inches with. This will create enough space so that you can walk about, but not too much space so it is wasted.

Lastly, countertops are so important. If you look very frequently, make sure to incorporate tow countertop heights which makes it easier for your children to help prepare the meals too.
